Title A name given to the resource Dr. Henry Gilbert and Mrs. Maggie Gilbert Subject The topic of the resource Farmers Families Pioneers Physicians Description An account of the resource Dr. Henry Gilbert (1850-1932) and Mrs. Maggie Gilbert (1862-1946) with granddaughter Maurine Pruitt, later Maurine Shaw. Dr. Gilbert practiced medicine in and around the Smithfield Community in the late 19th Century. He also farmed about 240 acres in the 1890s. Along with others, Dr. Gilbert helped start the Smithfield Baptist Church in 1895. Colley Subject The topic of the resource Pioneers Physicians United States--History--Civil War, 1861-1865 Description An account of the resource Dr. Lilburn H. Colley (1843-1924) and wife Martha S. Colley (1860-1914). One of four doctors in the Bransford Community of some 124 families. Colley practiced medicine in this area for more than 40 years. As a result of his dedication the community eventually took his name and became Colleyville. The name was in use even before his death.
