Description

September 3, 1943, at 7 a.m., two B-24 Liberator bombers collided in midair over Birdville. The bombers crashed to the earth about two miles northeast of Birdville where Richland Plaza is today. One plane broke in two and dropped in a creek bed. The other dived into a nearby wheat field.
