Description

In 1986 a memorial wagon train was organized to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Texas Independence. The route covered more than 3,000 miles around the state passing within at least 100 miles of every city in Texas. Some 10,000 riders from 27 states were said to have participated in various sections along the route. The wagon train left Sulphur Springs on January 2, 1986, and concluded its journey at the Fort Worth Stockyards on July 3, 1986.
